Signs Of A Toxic Friendship

Most people aren’t hanging out with the right friends, it’s important to surround yourself with people who care about you and will act as catalysts for growth and be here to ppur you when necessary. Its super sad, that people pick their friends so carelessly, but it’s also so so true and we need to do better for ourselves. A friend loves in all seasons and I guess we don’t see that we’re not being loved how we ought to be loved because what love is has been so far distorted from what it actually is supposed to be. It’s hard to see when you’re it, but do yourself a favour and put your big girl panties on cuz you’re doing this for you. You have to see to be able to overcome. Here are a couple of signs to point you in the right direction.

Toxic Friends

Are jealous of you and don’t share in your joy.

They are critical of you, randomly enough for you not to think too much of it, but consistently enough for your gut to react. They are critical of your goals, dreams, aspirations, you name it.

They talk behind your back and share your secrets. Some may even go as far as shaming you when you react to their sharing your private information.

They lack empathy.

They are super self centered and everything is based on them and their feelings or opinions.

They are inconsistent and unreliable.

They don’t always tell the truth.

You aren’t comfortable sharing things with them.

They are energy vampires and/or always bitchin’.

They don’t listen to or value your perspective.

Effort to maintain the relationship is mainly on your part.

They do not make time with you a priority.

They don’t keep their promises and are heavy flakes.

There are so many indicators of toxic friends and they aren’t even that difficult to spot, you just have to know the right direction to look. Let me know in the comments any other signs you know about! Until next time.

Yours truly, Chalya.
