Live In The Moment

Wherever you are right now, let it teach you something. Be kind to yourself on the journey and in the process of who you are becoming.
– Morgan Harper Nichols

Somewhere along the journey of evolution, change and time, we forgot how to stop, breathe, be present, and just enjoy the glorious scent of life. Suddenly anxiety spikes due to rush and timelines have become a common thing, even a badge of honor for some. We forget to remember that we all have different timelines, no matter what age you are, where you live, your race or nationality. We need to pause and realize that fear does not begin with your thoughts. Fear is biology. It’s primitive. Ingrained in your DNA from birth, inescapable. It’s up to you to choose relaxation over stress and prioritize your well-being. Realize that everything starts from within which includes unhappiness and fear. Trauma is sometimes self inflicted and caused by what we’ve placed our worth in, or sometimes it’s something as simple as comparison. It’s up to you to decide to identify the past patterns you’ve been engaged in and then proceed to make the necessary changes. Bring everything to the light so you can heal it.

Everything starts in the body, thats why sometimes we feel physically the pain of hurts experienced. Stop and ask yourself in any given moment how what you’re currently experiencing feels in your body. Retrain your body to responds to fear induced circumstances. Actually how it responds to any circumstance really. A resource that really flipped the switch for me was the biology of belief documentary by Bruce Lipton, would recommend 100%. Totally and completely life-changing research. Get into the habit of telling yourself that you are changing your story, you do not have to engage in patterns, systems and values that do not serve you. Tell yourself that you’re doing the best that you can and actually be doing it cuz you know what you’re working towards improving the quality of your life, you’re working towards dropping old habits that do not serve you. You’re working towards being better and experiencing life to the fullest in this present moment and in the absence of fear.

Slow down. Teach yourself how to connect body and mind. Breathe deeply. Focus on relaxation and acceptance and forgiveness. Soften. The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude towards the problem, famous words from Captain Jack Sparrow and he was right! Because if we’ve failed to realize it’s time to wake up and do so now. Life kinda sorta comes with problems, that’s how it be. That’s how it will always be. So instead of whining, complaining and tuning into the victim mentality, how about we drop all that and stop giving the stress any power by taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions, mistakes, choices. You don’t have to have it all figured out, that’s an unreasonable and unrealistic expectation to place on yourself or anyone else. Remember that life is a journey, all you have is right here, right now. Live in the moment.

Do not disturb yourself by imagining your whole life as a whole ahead of you. Do not assemble in your mind the many and varied troubles which have come to you in the past and will come again in the future, but ask yourself with regard to every present difficulty, “what is there in this that is unbearable and beyond endurance?”.
– Marcus Aurelius, Meditations.

When you envision your whole life laid out in front of you, you’re going to get overwhelmed. It’s a lot to take in, it’s a lot you can’t anticipate. One step at a time. It’s okay, even highly recommended to have a vision, a goal, a plan, but don’t get too caught up in that. Be present. Have fun. Get to know yourself, your environment, the people around you. Connect! Don’t overwhelm yourself with everything at once. Babies aren’t born and start eating Eba or Yam immediately. Ask yourself what makes you happy and then focus on that. Where your focus goes, your energy flows and when you do that the voices disappear. Don’t be afraid to face what you really want and hide behind things just cuz you’re afraid and don’t know the steps because they seem so many. Ask for help, there’s no shame in needing a helping hand. Don’t fear failure. Instead make happiness a state of mind that you choose to tap into. Start with whatever you have, using gratitude for those as a vehicle to propel you forward. Take the steps necessary to get you you need to go, make the unenjoyable enjoyable and most importantly listen to yourself. Your inner guidance, your Divine intuition.

The things we say to ourselves play a major role in what we manifest into our reality and how able we are to stay rooted and presenting the moment. Be kind to yourself and speak positive words to yourself and over your life. Do this because the dialogue you hear all the time gets ingrained into our subconscious. Learn how not to internalize the external, what goes on outside of your existence does not affect you unless you let it. Be a thermostat not a thermometer. Don’t live your life for others it’s a ridiculous notion. Don’t forget your power. What others say or think about you doesn’t matter to your existence one bit unless you choose to let it. What matter is you, and when you are your number one supporter, criticism isn’t important.

Let’s learn how to let go of control and enjoy all that we have been so graciously blessed with by expressing gratitude and living in the moment. What’s something that’s not in your control right now and how are you dealing wit it? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time.

Yours truly, Chalya.
