It’s the start of yet another phenomenal year. It’s a little bit mind-blowing if I am being completely honest. What. A. Year.
It feels like just a couple weeks ago it was the start of 2019 and I was ecstatic about all the fresh new things that I had coming my way. I get excited about the littlest things, it’s fun and I just love it. The biggest catch though was that my mind could never have fathomed the kinds of changes and experiences I would go through this year. I’ve matured, I’ve learnt, I’ve come into myself in the most beautiful way possible. The best part about that is I know it’s only going to get better. Even with every single curveball that came my way, I’m proud to say that I can look in hindsight and not feel hurt or cheated by any encounter I had, because what I know now I didn’t know then and that in itself is fine by me. Lessons have been learnt and for that im oodles wiser. I don’t believe it’s right to punish yourself for mistakes you made or things you did when you didn’t know any better.
We need to learn and make a conscious effort to be kind and gentle with ourselves. And as one cycle ends, the only thing I know that stands FOSHO is that we all need to put on our big girl panties, take charge of our lies and own our power. In everything, and strutting into the new year like I am here are a few things I would like to share with you to carry into the new year with the hope that they will make as much an impact on you as they did me.
Your goals should be specific and measurable.
Being as specific as you can will actually work on your favour and aid in actually creating change.
Visualize your success.
Often called daydreaming, I beg to differ. Very underrated and disrespected if I might say. Same as the first point, the more specific and real it is to you, the better.
Visualize the end-result and then input the steps you need to take to get there.
Just start with one thing.
Often I’ve fallen victim to trying to get everything done at once and in the end nothing gets done. The ripple effect makes its play here cuz when you do something and fail at it, you’re more likely to pass that failure onto other things that follow. The same goes for success, which is why doing one task at a time works like magic.
Create your own personal mantra.
This could be a word or phrase that encapsulates what you want your 2020 to be, and in the spirit of deliberate creation, use this to remind you of your focus, where you want to go and how you want it to be.
Here are a couple of my favourites…. “Be present. Be focused. Be intentional.” “Discipline.” “Own your power.” “Don’t ask why, ask why not?”
Let me know what you things you’re working on incorporating in your life to improve its quality.
